Product Highlight: MicroLoops LD™
When a mounting tool is inserted into and withdrawn from a small liquid drop, it drags liquid along with it. This sets up convective and surface-tension-driven flows within the drop, making retrieval of small samples difficult. The narrow twisted necks of nylon loops cause less liquid disturbance, but they bend excessively in viscous solutions and in cold gas streams, and give irreproducible sample positioning.

Computer-optimized MicroLoops LD™ combine the advantages of Mitegen's patented microfabricated mount technology with those of nylon loops.

To minimize drop disturbances, they have long thin necks. This also minimizes turbulence in cold gas streams.
To maintain rigidity and minimize loop motion, the necks are made from a thick polymer layer, and are curved at their base.
To ensure the lowest possible background scatter in X-ray diffraction applications, the loop region surrounding the sample is made from a thin polymer layer.
MicroLoops LD™ are ideal for retrieving samples from sub-microliter drops used in high throughput applications and from microfluidic cards. The world's most advanced loop design.
