Start date: February 10, 2025
End date: February 21, 2025
All-day event
Location: Hamburg, Germany

The Multi-User CryoEM facility at CSSB is hosting the fourth full-day Cryo-EM workshop from 10 to 21 February 2025. The workshop is designed for M.Sc. students in the life sciences and for beginners or advanced users in the field of cryo-EM who wish to explore the various facets of this technique.

The course primarily covers two modalities of electron cryo-microscopy: Single Particle Analysis (cryo-SPA) and Electron cryo-Tomography (cryo-ET). Participants will gain insights into microscope hardware, sample preparation techniques, image formation, and various operating modes. An integral part of the course includes live demonstrations on the microscopes and a hands-on introduction to image processing for cryo-SPA and cryo-ET. The course concludes with research talks from doctoral candidates and postdocs.

To earn points, students will independently evaluate a standard dataset in cryo-SPA and cryo-Tomo according to the protocol and present a scientific publication. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to explain the modalities of cryo-SPA and cryo-Tomography at a foundational level. Further details and the upcoming program will follow.
