    Customer Testimonials
"The MiTeGen GraVitri Standard Plunge Cooler has proven easy to use and highly effective. With only a short amount of training, our lab was able to begin producing grids, and the quality has continued to improve with practice. It has also been an important tool for teaching and demonstration in local workshops, providing easy access to Cryo-EM methods in an area where comparable resources are scarce."
Cody Brazel University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

    Accessible

Designed for ultimate accessibility and affordability, the GraVitri Basic and Standard units simplify the plunge-freezing workflow and reduce overhead. Since they require no power or external connections, setup is instant, maintenance is minimal, and operational costs are significantly lower. The system is modular for straightforward expansion as your science grows.

    GraVitri Basic Plunge Cooler

    Reliable

This base model will dependably provide fast plunge speeds without risk of grid or tweezer damage

    Economical

Made with budget in mind and priced to be accessible to every lab, this unit promises high quality EM samples at a lower cost than competing products

    GraVitri Standard Plunge Cooler

    Dependable

Our standard model will reliably provide fast plunge speeds without risk of grid or tweezer damage, and a humidified environment that precludes excess sample drying

    Balanced

Building on our Base Model, this design balances user friendliness, ergonomics function, and cost to deliver an affordable system with superior capabilities

Straightforward sample prep you can trust

Our unique thumb screw fixture accommodates a wide range of tweezer types, and firmly holds the grid through the entirety of sample prep.

    Image
Blotting is performed using a blotting paper round affixed to a spring-backed blotting rod for full control of sample blotting to achieve optimal vitrification.

    Image
The foot pedal initiates sample plunging via a flexible steel transmission cable, releasing the plunge rod to accelerate to a terminal plunge speed of 2 m/s. Compared to competing products, our durable, tried and true design supports a sub-millimeter stopping distance with minimal vibration, ensuring delicate grids and tweezers remain intact post plunge.

Unlike other plunge cooling systems, the simple thumb screw is untightened to easily release the tweezers in liquid nitrogen, not liquid ethane. This provides a larger area for the tweezers to be removed, substantially reducing the likelihood of crashed grids.

    Image
    Image
After pipetting your sample onto the grid, concentration of protein sample by evaporation is slowed as water vapor from the humidification sponge fills the enclosure. Humidity levels can be monitored via the integrated humidity monitor.

    Image
Directly prior to plunge, the user gently slides open the bottom enclosure hatch, designed with a replaceable hatch foil to prevent tweezer tip damage in the event of user error.

Designed with user friendliness in mind, our slotted base plate greatly simplifies rapid grid transfer from ethane to nitrogen, ensuring vitreous samples do not devitrify.

    Image
Grid boxes are stored under liquid nitrogen in aluminum grid box holders close to the air-liquid interface, enabling easy access and a clear line of sight when storing fragile grids.

    Enclosures

Our sample enclosures house the sample after it is applied to the EM grid, and can be tailored to meet your application’s specific sample prep needs. We have previously manufactured enclosures for both hot (22 ºC-60 ºC) and cold (4 ºC-22 ºC) temperature control, and for more active humidification.
