Dry Shipper Air Dryer
Dry shippers, such as the CX100, can accumulate ice and moisture, reducing LN2 holding capacity. The Dry Shipper Air Dryer is designed to efficiently remove residual water from your dry shipper after warming, ensuring optimal performance. Use in conjunction with our Dry Shipper Warming and Drying Rack to quickly prepare your dry shipper for recharging and shipping.
Product Information
The Dry Shipper Air Dryer is an essential accessory for maintaining the performance and longevity of dry shippers used in cryogenic transport of biological samples. Dry shippers, such as the IC Biomedical CX100, can accumulate ice and moisture within their adsorbent material, which reduces their liquid nitrogen (LN2) holding capacity and compromises their insulating properties. While warming the dry shipper helps to melt the ice, the Dry Shipper Air Dryer is designed to efficiently remove any residual moisture after the warming process, ensuring the dry shipper is thoroughly dry before recharging and subsequent use. This is crucial for maximizing holding times and protecting sample integrity. For optimal results, use the Dry Shipper Air Dryer in conjunction with our Dry Shipper Warming and Drying Rack.
Features and Benefits
- Efficient Moisture Removal: The Dry Shipper Air Dryer utilizes forced air to effectively evaporate residual moisture from the dry shipper's interior, targeting the adsorbent material.
- Gentle Airflow: The dryer is designed with two small centrifugal blowers to provide a gentle and controlled airflow, minimizing disturbance to the delicate adsorbent material.
- Integrated Heating Element: A small, integrated heater assists in the drying process by gently warming the airflow, further promoting evaporation.
- CX100 Compatibility: The Dry Shipper Air Dryer is sized to accommodate the CX100 dry shipper.
- Adaptable for Other Dry Shipper Models: While sized for the CX100, the Dry Shipper Air Dryer's design can be adapted to accommodate other dry shipper models. Please use the contact form on the right to inquire.
- Power Supply Options: The standard power supply is 110/220 50/60h.
- Power cord: Length is approximately 9 feet
Protocol for Use
- Ensure the dry shipper is empty of all liquid nitrogen and has been warmed appropriately, such as on the Dry Shipper Warming and Drying Rack, until all ice has melted.
- Position the Dry Shipper Air Dryer's nozzle to direct airflow into the dry shipper, focusing on the area behind the central screen to ensure circulation throughout the adsorbent bags.
- Activate the Dry Shipper Air Dryer and allow it to operate for the recommended drying time.
- Once the drying process is complete, turn off the Dry Shipper Air Dryer and remove the nozzle from the dry shipper.
Important Considerations
- Do not use the Dry Shipper Air Dryer on a cold dry shipper. Applying warm air to a cold shipper can cause condensation or ice formation, which is counterproductive.
