Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer

The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer is an essential accessory for maintaining the performance and longevity of dry shippers and storage Dewars used in cryogenic transport and storage of biological samples. Dry shippers, such as the IC Biomedical CX100, and storage Dewars, such as IC Biomedical’s ICB34ICB35-6, and ICB35-10, can accumulate ice and moisture, which reduces their liquid nitrogen (LN2) holding capacity and compromises their insulating properties. The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer is designed to efficiently remove residual water from your dry shipper or storage Dewar after warming, ensuring optimal performance. For dry shippers, use in conjunction with our Dry Shipper Warming and Drying Rack to quickly prepare your dry shipper for recharging and shipping.

Product Information

Note that the Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer is designed to efficiently remove any residual moisture after the warming process, ensuring the cryogenic vessel is thoroughly dry before subsequent use. This is crucial for maximizing holding times and protecting sample integrity. For optimal results with dry shippers, use the Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer in conjunction with our Dry Shipper Warming and Drying Rack.

The dryer sends heated air into and throughout the cryogenic vessel. By gently flowing warm air, this product can efficiently dehydrate a dry shipper's adsorbent material without risking disturbing or damaging the fabric tube housing it.

⚠️ The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer is designed to be used on cryogenic vessels at room-temperature only. If air is blown into a cold vessel, ice or moisture will be increased. Depending on ambient conditions, the dryer will remove 20 to 50 grams of moisture per hour. ⚠️

Features and Benefits

  • Efficient Moisture Removal: The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer utilizes forced air to effectively evaporate residual moisture from the interior of cryogenic vessels
  • Gentle Air Flow: The dryer is designed with two small centrifugal blowers to provide a gentle and controlled air flow, which, for dry shippers, minimizes disturbance to the delicate adsorbent material.
  • Integrated Heating Element: A small, integrated heater assists in the drying process by gently warming the airflow, further promoting evaporation.
  • CX100, ICB34, and ICB35 Compatibility: The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer is sized to accommodate the CX100 dry shipper, the ICB34 storage Dewar, the ICB35-6 storage Dewar, and the ICB35-10 storage Dewar.
  • Adaptable for Other Dewar Models: The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer's design can be adapted to accommodate other cryogenic vessel models. Please use the contact form on the right to inquire.
  • Power Supply Options: The standard power supply is 110/220 VAC 50/60 Hz.
  • Power cord: Length is approximately 9 feet

    Protocol for Use

    1. Ensure the cryogenic vessel is empty of all liquid nitrogen and has been warmed appropriately, such as on the Dry Shipper Warming and Drying Rack, until all ice has melted.
    2. Position the Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer's nozzle to direct air flow into the cryogenic vessel.
    3. Activate the Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer and allow it to operate for the recommended drying time.
    4. Once the drying process is complete, turn the Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer off and remove the nozzle from the cryogenic vessel.

    Important Considerations

⚠️ The Dry Shipper and Storage Dewar Air Dryer is designed to be used on a cryogenic vessel at room-temperature only. If air is blown into a cold cryogenic vessel, ice or moisture will be increased.
