Serial FloXcell Serial Crystallography Sample Delivery Collection System

To help you make the correct product selection the following guidelines are available:

For first time users

For labs the Serial FloXcell Starter Practice Kit (SKU: MS-SX-STP) is recommended. This kit provides the bench (posts, connectors, magnets, syringes) to start with.

For Synchrotrons the Serial FloXcell Starter Practice Kit (SKU: MS-SX-STA) is recommended. Since the facility will likely have benches for connecting the flow-cell.

Once the starter kits have been tried

After the starter kits have been tried, the selection of product is based on the combination of type of research and beamline the research will be conducted at. Please use the contact form (See tab  named Ask Question) and complete the information requested and we will advise further.

Selection of accessories

The selection of accessories is for connection between the flow-cell and syringe-needle to help maintain a steady flow of samples from the syringe to the flow-cell capillary. It is NOT for any specific beamline and should work in all beamlines. Accessories are connectors, sleeves and Hamiltons syringes that are compatible with a syringe pump. Serial FloXcell Basic Kit - SKU MS-SX-FC5 - Includes 5 fully assembled flowcells for 100μm and 200μm glass capillaries. Magnetic disks included.

Serial FloXcell Broad Based Kit - SKU MS-SX-BB4 - Includes 4 fully assembled flowcells with base for large goniometer magnets. For 100μm and 200μm glass capillaries. Magnetic disks included.

Serial FloXcell FleXi plugs Kit A - SKU MS-SX-FPA Includes 5 flow-cells plugs, ready to assemble with 300-1000μm glass capillaries. Magnetic disks included.

Serial FloXcell FleXi plugs Kit B - SKU MS-SX-FPB - Includes 5 flow-cells plugs, ready to assemble with 300-1000μm glass capillaries, a 5-meter polymicro-tube and a tube of super glue. Magnetic disks included.

Serial FloXcell Standard Kit A - SKU MS-SX-SKA - Includes 5 fully assembled flowcells with magnetic disks, and 2 beamline compatible catchers.

Serial FloXcell Standard Kit B - SKU MS-SX-SKB - Includes 5 fully assembled flowcells with an accessory box with syringe connectors.

Serial FloXcell Top-up Kit - SKU MS-SX-TOP - Includes 5 fully assembled flowcells, 2 beamline compatible catchers and an accessory box with syringe connectors.

Serial FloXcell Starter Practice Kit (Ideal For Synchrotrons) - SKU MS-SX-STA - Includes 5 fully assembled flow-cells, beamline compatible catchers, a 100μL glass syringe and an accessory box with syringe connectors.

Serial FloXcell Starter Practice Kit (Ideal For Labs) - SKU MS-SX-STP - Includes 5 fully assembled flow-cells, beamline compatible catchers, a 100μL glass syringe and an accessory box with syringe connectors.

Assembly protocol for Serial X FleXi plugs.

1. Serial X plug + polymicro-tube + glass capillary

2. Insert polymicro-tube through the channel of a Serial X plug to a desired height below the nozzle.

3. Encapsulate the polymicro-tube and nozzle with a glass capilliary. Add tiny drops of superglue at the marked positions.

4. Insert a magnet on the top. A Serial X flowcell is ready for sample delivery.
